Last updated: 16 June 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Qrank Inc. ("Qrank," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Renso mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

01Who We Are

The data controller responsible for your personal information is:

Qrank Inc.
3F 6-12-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan
Email: hello@qrnk.jp

If you are located in Japan, the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another region with data protection laws, this policy is intended to comply with applicable requirements, including Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

02Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information. To sign in, we collect your email address or mobile phone number and verify it using a one-time verification code sent to you. We do not store account passwords.
  • Profile information. Any display name, profile photo, or other details you choose to add.
  • Photos and content. Photos you upload, along with any captions, titles, or other content you submit. Photos you upload can be viewed by other users of the Service.
  • Communications. Information you provide when you contact us for support or other inquiries.

2.2 Information in Photos (Including Location Metadata)

Photos may contain embedded metadata (EXIF data), which can include the date, time, camera settings, and the geographic location where the photo was taken.

We retain this metadata as part of the uploaded photo. This means that location and other metadata may be associated with photos you make available to other users. If you do not want to share your location, please remove location metadata before uploading, or disable location tagging in your device's camera settings.

2.3 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage and device data. When you use the Service, we automatically collect information such as your device model, operating system, app version, language settings, IP address, and interactions within the app.
  • Crash and diagnostic data. We use Google Firebase and Crashlytics to collect crash reports, performance data, and diagnostic information to help us maintain and improve the Service.

03How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including account sign-in and verification;
  • Enable you to upload photos and to view photos shared by others;
  • Monitor and improve the performance, stability, and security of the Service;
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support;
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security issues, and violations of our terms;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

04Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you request, including account creation and photo sharing.
  • Legitimate interests — to maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the Service, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent — where required, for example for certain diagnostics or optional features. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws.

05How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • With other users. Photos and profile information you choose to make available are visible to other users of the Service.
  • With service providers. We share information with third parties that perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, authentication, and analytics/crash reporting (e.g., Google Firebase and Crashlytics). These providers are permitted to use the information only to provide services to us.
  • For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Qrank, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

06International Data Transfers

We operate globally, and your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including countries that may have different data protection laws. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.

07Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information and uploaded content within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

08Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate information;
  • Delete your information ("right to be forgotten");
  • Restrict or object to certain processing;
  • Receive your data in a portable format;
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@qrnk.jp. You may also delete your account at any time within the app. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Japan, the relevant authority is the Personal Information Protection Commission (PPC).

Note for California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@qrnk.jp. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

09Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

10Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the Service and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
